Challenge #26 - Stamped Sentiment as Main Feature.

Hello, welcome back to the latest Twofers challenge.   This was very nearly our last challenge.  For a year now Jane, Christi, & I supported by Janine our wonderful sponsor, have carried on ever hopeful of seeing more support.   We very much appreciate those of you who play along with us and the high standard of all your entires making it really really hard to choose our winners.

However when there is just one or even no entries in the first week followed by a slow trickle up to about 6 by the end of the second week, we all become very disheartened losing the will to carry on.   So we thought we would stop.   The thing is I (Zoe) knew it would lead to another challenge and so Christi and I agreed we would take a month off and then carry on for a while to see if it got better.   Then Jane wrote her last post which made me cry!  Jane has agreed to stay with us when we come back in a months time.

How long we will be here remains to be seen and frankly is in your crafty hands.   We want it to be fun for you, please help us by making it fun for us.    Here is Jane's challenge after which we will see you again in October.

So, for my last challenge in the current incarnation of our blog, I (Jane) have chosen Stamped Sentiment as the Main Feature.  There can be other elements, even images, on your work, but the eye must be drawn to the sentiment, and the sentiment MUST be stamped.

Our favourite will win a $15 voucher from Alleystamp

Alleystamp - Back alley prices, Front door quality

Here is my card - for details on how it was made, see my blog.

and here are Zoe's final playing cards in her pack.

It's not goodbye yet, as I will be back to announce the winners after the closing date.

  1. The world of challenges is hard to understand--why some get so many entries & others very few. Personally, I check lots of them & enter ones that inspire me as none of us can enter them all. I do tend toward challenges that have a prize I like & yours fits that! I have been honored to win a couple of your challenges & this one is right up my alley, so you'll see an entry from me. Good luck to all of you--no matter what you end up deciding to do.

    1. Thank you Greta, we have loved your entries and you are one of those in our minds when we talk about our talented followers. Like you we think a 'real' prize is important. Hopefully a bit of a refresh will make us attractive to a few more talented people like you. XOXO

  2. Oh, no! I am so sorry for the discouragement. I LOVE the Twofers challenges. And I love Alleystamp and how they have generously sponsored!! Things are sometimes pretty crazy in my life and family, so I don't get to participate as often as I wish, but I always have Twofers marked on my "challenge list".

As for the trickle in of entries....it often takes me at least a week to think about and to mull over what I want to do with a particular theme. I am slow, I guess. This is why I am often the last entry in line in a challenge link-up....and why two-week challenges work great for me. Sometimes I am already working on a card that just happens to fit into your theme, but mostly I have to think and plan and then craft!

Also, even though the small number of entries must be a bit discouraging, I really like the small crafting family feel to Twofers. When you gals comment on my cards, you always take time to leave thoughtful and encouraging words. (NOT just a token "Great card. Thanks for joining us at Twofers." and on to the next entry.) It means so much to me that you have actually read my post and looked at the details on my card. That sets you far apart from many challenge blogs. I am not criticizing the others, just saying that I appreciate YOU!!

All that said, I totally respect and support whatever you decide to do with your blog and challenges. We all want this to be fun for YOU, too...not just fun for us!!! I completely understand the need to take some time off...to rest and plan and restrategize. Just know that we are here for you (even in small numbers) and that your work and efforts are appreciated!!! Hugs and many thanks to you!

    1. Thank you Janis - and yes, only having a few entries DOES mean we have time to really look at and read about each one so we can make a proper comment, rather than just dashing off a generic comment. But even so, all our planning and preparation seems like hard work when sometimes we have as few as three entries. There are some very talented artists among our regular visitors - but there are a lot more talented ones out there and we need to find a way to reach out to some more of them!

  3. What Janis said!! I too have enjoyed taking part in Twofers. I do try to join every challenge but sometimes time runs away with me. Maybe you should consider doing a random draw for the prize. Some people are intimidated by a DT pick. My style rarely appeals but I still enjoy participating. Hope to join this challenge and will be awaiting your return. Big thanks to Alley Stamps for continuing to support the challenge. Hugz

    1. Thank you Gail you are another of our talented regulars and believe you me we look forward to your entries every fortnight. We will consider the random draw but personally I always prefer selection. A lot of people expect the prize to be a digital image as well. But you have a point and I'll give it some more thought. BTW I for one love your style XOXO

    2. Thanks Zoe. I always look forward to the Twofers dt's lovely comments. Although random is easy, I do like the extra challenge of making something that might appeal to the DT whilst still making something that appeals to me. Must say I'm glad your prize isn't digi. I prefer the actual process of stamping and don't enter challenges that only offer digi stamps. Call me old fashioned.... HUgz

  4. I have just found your challenge through being a new followers of Jane Willis and I have recently rediscovered my first love of stamping after using digis for a couple of years so hopefully will get to join this challenge and looking forward to your return

  5. I've been joining your challenges since the beginning, I've only missed a few when I've been on travel abroad. What I love about this challenge blog is that it makes me use both loved stamps, unused ones and those I thought I'd never use. And I like that many of your themes are open for different interpretations. For me it's not about the prize. But I do love top picks solution. I love seeing those cards, always inspiration to be found from them. I stumbled upon the news about this blog before it went live, I don't know how, but mostly I learn of new blogs from Paper Playful and their lists of challenges. I think word would spread and more entrants would find their way to you if you got the blog listed there as well. I'd love to see you continue but I also understand if you choose not to. I think the success of a blog can be measured in other ways than entries, comments or views, but how much fun it is.

    1. Pia you have been one of our most frequent followers and always with something different and inspiring. We hope that when we come back refreshed and ready to go you will be back with us. I used to be on the team at the challenge list you refer to but changes during my time put me off and led to the list that Christi, Jane and I are now on. I might re-think it when we come back. Thank you XOXO

  6. Oh dear me, this is so sad to read. I think I was the very first person to join in on your first challenge and it would be very sad to see it end. I sincerely hope that I won't be one of the last! Thank you for all of your hard work and I wish you all the very best. Sandra x

  7. I only discovered your blog challenges several months ago through another blogging friend and love that you don't offer digi stamps as prizes because I am one who likes the whole process of putting actual ink to paper and getting messy! I can imagine all the work that goes into running the challenges and will understand if you decide to stop them, but just want you to know that I will miss the inspiration and fun. Summer has been very busy and hectic for me and my crafting has taken a back seat, but I think you may find that participation picks up with the cooler weather. Taking a month off to regroup sounds like an excellent idea and I'm trying to figure out a way to publicize your challenges so that you get more participation. I second Ionabunny's thought that some may be intimidated by a DT pick process, as I've felt that myself. We are often our own worst critics, aren't we? Whatever you decide, I want to say that I have enjoyed your various challenges immensely and always check to see what the theme is, even if my schedule doesn't allow me to participate. Thank you so much!
